Not Forgotten

God’s children will not be forgotten by Him.  He will pursue us and remind us of Himself.  His faithfulness ties us to Himself.  We who have been bound to Him, by His own faithfulness can be reassured.

2nd Timothy 2:13

 If we are faithless,
   He remains faithful.
   He can’t deny himself.”

He is a faithful God, when our faith and trust begin to be moved off reliance on our own faithfulness and on to His prefect faithfulness, we can begin to rest more peacefully in Him.  Resting, not as in a complacent rest, but in a lively, yet calm, peaceful, mind and heart anchored in His goodness.

Isaiah 44:21-22

Remember these things, Jacob and Israel; for you are my servant.  I have formed you.  You are my servant.  Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.  I have blotted out, as a thick cloud your transgressions,  and, as a cloud, your sins.  Return to me, for I have redeemed you.

These verses shows the leading mercy and love of God.  He reminds us who we are; “You are my servant.”  We are His, He will sustain His own servants.  He is a good Lord.  This loving promise; “you will not be forgotten by me.”  Though we may begin to forget His goodness and loveliness, He doesn’t forget His own goodness to us.  He holds and keeps us.  Look at the timing of these next sentences; “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins.  Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”  He has blotted out, as a thick cloud our transgressions and sins, before we have returned to Him.  He truly is the One who leads us back to Himself.  At times it seems like we are attempting to win Him back, this isn’t so, He in His goodness, mercy and graciousness is leading us back to Himself, having blotted out our transgressions and sins.  Remember the running father in the story of the prodigal son, the father is Yahweh, the triune God, running to us.

May we trust His love and allow His love to be known more by us.
